9 Days Birding Safari to Murchison, Kibale, Lake Mburo NP.

Day 1: Drive To Murchison Falls National Park

Drive to Murchison Falls National park in the morning after breakfast. You will pass through the famous Luwero Triangle, Budongo Forest and the Western Arm of the Great Rift Valley. You will reach the park in the afternoon to drive to the top of the falls where the park derives its name and the Nile its beauty. At the top of the falls you will see how the Nile forces its self through a narrow gorge to fall 150 fts down producing a thunderous roar of white water. You will walk down to the landing site to bird watch. Look out for birds like Chestnut Crowned Owls, Warblers, Flycatchers and many more. The ferry will then transfer you to your preferred Lodge for Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Bird Watching, Launch Cruise, And Wildlife Tour

Have breakfast and prepare for a boat ride at 9:00 am. The launch cruise takes you down stream to the bottom of the falls where you will see plenty of animals and waterbirds at the shores. Expect birds like the Goliath Herons, Egyptian Geese, the African Skimmer and Pied Kingfisher, Pelicans, and more. On the ride you should watch out for game like Hippos, Crocodiles, Buffaloes, Elephants. Return to your Lodge for Dinner and Overnight.

Day 3: Murchison Falls Birding And Game Watching Tour

Breakfast then go birding on the northern game watching circuit to go through the Thorn Acacia. This will reward you with birds like Speckle-Fronted Weaver, White Bellied Barbet, Swamp Flycatcher, Blue Breasted Bee-eater. You will spend the whole day there watching for birds. Take time off to enjoy a picnic lunch. Return to your Lodge in the evening, Dinner and Overnight.

Day 4: Drive To Kibale Forest National Park

Have breakfast and then drive Kibale Forest National Park to reach in the early afternoon. You will bird at the entrance of the park or in the Kanyankyu area. Overnight at Ndali Lodge/ Primate Lodge/Mountains of The Moon/Kanyankyu tourist centre.

Day 5: Guided Nature Walk And Birding Safari

Go for a guided nature walk in the Kanyankyu area to watch for birds like the Masked Apalis, African Go-Shwak, Grey Parrots the Majestic Crowned Eagle, among others.  You will have lunch and then transfer to Bigodi birding Wetland through the Magombe Swamp for water birds of the park. Expect birds like the Mosque Swallow, Papyrus Canary, Papyrus Gonolek, Brown headed Tchagra and others. Overnight at your preferred Lodge.

Day 6: Drive To Lake Mburo National Park

Have breakfast and then drive to Lake Mburo National Park. You will reach the Park in time for lunch and then in the afternoon go for a canoe ride on the lake to watch birds. The park has over 310 bird species recorded, and most of them can be found anywhere in the park apart from 5 found in the forest and 60 species which are water specialists. The park has open waterbirds, lake shore and papyrus water bird, seasonal waterbirds, woodland, grassland and forest birds. Expect birds like the Great White Egret, Pied Kingfisher, brilliantly coloured Papyrus Gonolek, Papyrus Yellow Warblers, African Finfoot, Fish Eagle, the Night Heron and many more at the shores of the lake. Dinner and overnight at Mantana Tented Camp/Mihingo Lodge/Rwonyo camp.

Day 7& 8: Birding Tour

You will spend the whole day in the park birding in the woodlands and grass lands. The next day you will go search for birds in the Rubanga forest to explore the forest birds in the park. Expect birds like the Bare-Faced Go-away Bird, Black-collared and Black-throated Barbets. Dinner and overnight at your preferred Lodge.

Day 9: Lake Mburo Birding, Boat Ride And Return

Following breakfast, you will go for a boat ride on Lake Mburo to search for more of the waterbirds on the shores and in swamps. Retire from the boat ride for lunch at your Lodge. In the afternoon you will drive back to Kampala to reach in the evening. Dinner and overnight in Kampala.
