On arrival in Kigali, you will be met and assisted by your driver-guide who will take you for Kigali City tour.
Kigali City is blessed with a moderate high altitude climate that belies its tropical location. The Rwandan capital provides both a comfortable and welcoming introduction to this land of a thousand hills and an ideal springboard from which to explore this magical country. Excursions in and around Kigali offer a first impression of what Rwanda looks like. The many hills seem to stretch forever, usually featuring a lush green colour due to the abundant rainfall from the two main rainy seasons.
After lunch leave for Parc Nationale des Volcanoes. The journey to the north goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that show much of Rwanda’s landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga volcanoes; sometimes five peaks can be seen. Dinner and overnight at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge (FB).

After an early breakfast, report to the ranger station for registration and briefing by one of the ranger guides. The trail takes you through the National Park, immersing you into the mysterious intimacy of the rainforest, alive with the calls of colorful birds and chattering of the rare golden monkey, and littered with fresh spoor of the mountains' elusive populations of buffalo and elephant. The time taken and the terrain vary according to the movements of these marvelous primates. The thrill of spending time and observing the gorillas is a rare, moving, awesome and exciting adventure. In the afternoon, relax at the camp or go for a tour of Ruhengeri and visit Lake Burela and Ruhondo Dinner and overnight at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge (FB).
This opportunity increases the chances of seeing the gorillas during your trip. Enjoy a second gorilla tracking, possibly visiting a different gorilla group. If you have the afternoon free, you may decide to take a visit to the grave of the late Dian Fossy, or the climbing Mt. Bisoke, in the Volcanoes National Park.
Wake up in the morning and have breakfast, then drive to Kigali, which marks the end of your safari.
