On arrival at airport, you will meet our company representative or guide and then transfer to Kigali (Rwanda). After a quick rest in your hotel room, you will be given a briefing about your safari. Dinner and overnight at Serena Hotel Kigali.
An early start at 0700hrs, you will transfer to Nyungwe. En-route you will stop at the famous King’s palace in Nyanza which offers a rich insight into Rwandan pre-colonial history. You will visit the art museum at Rwesero Nyanza. Your final stop will be at the town of Butare to visit the National Museum which provides insight into Rwandan history and culture. Along the way from Kigali to Nyungwe, you will pass through magnificent hills and cultivated country side. Dinner and overnight at Gisakura Guest House Nyungwe.
Nyungwe National Park Nyungwe presents a unique phenomenon in primate tourism due to its huge concentrations of habituated primates whose troops can include 400 to 500 individuals. Walk on various nature trails in Nyungwe and connect with nature while exploring Nyungwe unique features including waterfalls and orchids in the high altitude swamps. In the afternoon (depending on trekking time), Visit local artisan groups to learn and participate in this and other local community income generating projects. This is also an opportunity to buy local crafts products or Watch cultural dance performed by one of the local community dance groups. Dinner and overnight at Gisakura Guest House Nyungwe.
Wake up early morning and drive to Ruhengeri for an encounter with the gorillas. En route you will be able to see the pyrethrum plantations and on arrival at Ruhengeri, the guide will pick you up and proceed to Parc national de Volcans the home to the rare mountain gorillas. You will take a hike up to the bamboo forest to spend a magical hour in the company of the gorillas and then return to the lodge for lunch. Overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/ Kinigi Guest House.
Following breakfast, you will have a city tour. Visit the city and curio markets, and then have lunch. In the afternoon, you will transfer to the airport and catch your flight back home.
