4 Days Gorilla Safari and Lake Kivu safari

Day 1: Transfer to Rwanda

This will depend on your arrival details. If you fly in from Kigali our driver guide will pick you from Kigali International air port and transfer you to your Hotel.
Or
If you are in Uganda you will be transferred from Kampala to Rwanda. From Kampala you will drive southwards to reach Rwanda for an overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/Kinigi Guest House.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking

The Volcanoes Park is currently the best place anywhere in Africa to go gorilla tracking, while also supporting a number of other localised mammal, bird and plant species. This 13000-hectare national park protects the Rwanda sector of the Virunga Mountains, a range of six extinct and three active volcanoes, which straddle the border with Uganda and the DRC. Between 2,500 and 3,500m, where an average annual rainfall of 2.000mm is typical, bamboo forest is interspersed with alpine grassland and marsh; a landscape dominated by otherworldly giant lobelia and senecio plants.
After an early breakfast, report to the ranger station for registration and briefing by one of the ranger guides. The trail takes you through the National Park, immersing you into the mysterious intimacy of the rainforest. Tracking these majestic endangered mountain Gorillas through the lush vegetation of the Virunga mountains remains without question the most moving wildlife experience to be had. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/Kinigi Guest House.

Day 3: Transfer to Gisenyi

Transfer from the Volcanoes Park to Gisenyi. Gisenyi at the northern shore is a truly tropical place with swaying palm trees, a lake-side boulevard and lies less than an hour's drive from the Parc National des Volcanes standing, on a sandy beach lined with swaying palms and colonial-era hotels that exude an atmosphere of tropical languor.

Being a lake shore resort, Gisenyi is ideal for water activities and you can enjoy a boat ride to the islands or even across into Goma, visit Gishamwana Island with its coffee plantation, picnic and campsites or enjoy Lake Kivu with its beach ideal for swimming, boat rides and sun bathing.  Dinner and overnight at Kivu Sun Serena Hotel/Regina Hotel/Bel Vedre Hotel /Palm Beach Hotel.

Day 4: Gisenyi to Kigali

Transfer back to Kigali to catch your flight back home.
